FUNDING REQUIREMENTS - SPONSOR PROGRAMS

Sponsorship funding is required to pay for final interview filming, travel, research, scriptwriting, narrators, design, editing and post production for each of the eight programs of the documentary series. Funds are also required to cover the cost of the editors and crew who will select and weave together the information gathered from the veteran interviewees, graphics, and archival materials such as historical photos and film footage.

Sponsorship funds will also assist in the promotion and distribution of the completed documentary series. Effective distribution will enable us to share our knowledge and carve a space that honours our role in Canadian military history. Efficient distribution of the eight-part series will ensure that the experiences of the Canadian men who risked their lives for freedom are not lost.

Obtaining adequate sponsorship funds is critically needed to empower us to reproduce an essential part of Canada’s military history as seen through the eyes of soldiers and the paratroopers who participated in each time period that our eight part series covers.

We hope that sponsors recognize this opportunity to be a part of Canadian history in the making and to show their appreciation and respect for those who have fought to preserve the freedom and lifestyles that we enjoy today.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE AND BECOME A SPONSOR?
Private individuals, corporations and associations can all participate as they so desire.

HOW MUCH MONEY IS NEEDED TO MAKE A MOVIE?
This question is an important one. Many companies spend $400,000 to $750,000 to make full length documentaries and we intend to complete this movie within that budget and use all of the additional footage for other segments. Obviously, the more that we spend, the better the movie will be. We are starting with a budget to begin production and hope that we’ll meet with success in attracting sponsors.

WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THE MONEY?
Essentially, the producer is in charge of all of the monies as well as all aspects of the movie, the production, the schedule, the commitments, the editing, graphics, designs, broadcast windows, marketing, DVD manufacturing and every single aspect therein. The producer is required to control all expenditures as he sees fit.

WHAT IF YOU RUN OUT OF MONEY?
This is another important question. It is the producer that is responsible to get the movie made, and to invariably raise the monies needed and his production company can accept responsibility to cover the financing of the production if they do not secure enough sponsorship funds. We hope this doesn’t happen but if it does, Dixon Christie will be responsible to complete the movie.

HOW DO I KNOW THAT THE MOVIE WILL BE MADE WITH INTEGRITY?
The producers have done as much as they can to ensure that theirs is not the only vision utilized in making this movie by organizing the Advisory Committee(s), and by making all of their methods and information public so that the whole process is visible to the sponsors, the committee and the creative team. As well, much of the details concerning the movie will be published on the website at Paratroopers.ca. In fact, perhaps for the first time in history, site users will be able to provide input and participate in the movie making process through an interactive forum on the website that will be monitored and managed by the Director.

WHEN WILL THE MOVIE BE COMPLETED?
Although we cannot say for sure, we hope to wrap up shooting in 2012 for the new release date of November 2012.

CAN I ATTEND A COMMITTEE MEETING OR MEET THE FILMMAKER?
Yes, we will endeavor to make ourselves available for your questions and you are certainly welcome and encouraged to attend a committee meeting as you wish. We will be happy to meet with you to answer any questions that you have as his schedule and location may permit.

WILL I RECEIVE PROGRESS REPORTS AND UPDATES?
The producers will email, fax or mail you with news from time to time. In the sponsorship form, you will be given the option as to where or if you wish to receive updates.

WHEN DO I RECEIVE MY GIFT, SIGNED PRINT and DVD?
We hope to send out the prints after they are signed by the 1CanPara Bn veterans following the June 5 and 6 ceremonies at the Siffleur Falls Staging Area in front of Mount Ex Coelis. The DVD’s will be mailed out when they are completed at some point thereafter.

WILL I GET MONEY BACK FROM THE SPONSORSHIP?
No, this is a sponsorship program that grants our valued sponsors a credit on the movie and on the website only. 100% of your monies will be used so there will not be any monies returned.

WILL I PERSONALLY BE LIABLE?
No, the producer and production company save sponsors harmless from any liabilities that arise during the making of this movie whatsoever.

WILL THERE BE A MOVIE PREMIER PARTY?
We plan to host an event to celebrate the Premier of this movie. We will certainly be inviting all of the sponsors, participants and supporters of the project.

WHAT ARE THE FUTURE PLANS FOR THE MOVIE?
We hope that this movie has tremendous success. We are hoping that we can get the broadcast on National Canadian TV, and then look to secure additional performances in other countries. As well, we hope to apply to documentary film festivals in the hopes of showcasing this movie to bigger audiences and securing worldwide distribution deals and additional broadcast opportunities.
